BAFTA TV Awards
I was brought on as lead animator with Hello Charlie for the BAFTA TV Awards to reinvent the established gold visual language. In a year that had difficulties for the TV industry, the brief was to breathe life back in to television. This was achieved very successfully with a refreshing and bold colour palette.
BROADCAST GRAPHICS
As part of the broadcast package, a key visual for TV audiences were the Category Headers, bookending the reel of nominees. This was a chance to showcase the bold yet delicate typographic treatment alongside the gentle flowing iridescence of the mask visual.
For the lower thirds, wipes, picture-in-picture and more, we continue on the theme of iridescence. This broadcast ‘kit of parts’ explores further abstractions of colour through a spectrum of light.
SCREENS
2021’s set design needed to be more intimate, with screens coming in tighter behind the on-stage talent. High dynamic range screens were used to showcase the vibrancy, contrast and definition required for such close-in shots. Screen content was created with a 32-bit colour gamut to accommodate such a broad colour spectrum. This colour depth gave the screen content the interesting effect of appearing like a living printed graphic.
