PROJECTION SHOWS.

Working for agencies such as Hello Charlie and Pixel Artworks, creating and leading projection animation shows for events has been my bread and butter.

Below showcases a range of the variety of clients and canvases I have had the pleasure of working with.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2022

The Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022 was a global event of 1 billion viewers and a local spectator audience of 1.1 million. I worked on pre-game sequences for gymnastics, badminton and beach volleyball. Each court projection required its own unique take on the format and style, with gymnastics especially being the most complex as I had to create an animated sequenced that matched and flowed to the choregraphy of dancers moves.

PRESIDENT’S CUP FINAL

At the 45th UAE President’s Cup final the pitch was transformed into a massive projection surface and laser canvas. Using an ideal perspective of 17.5° tilt, I used the illusion of perspective to create a 3D ball bouncing and multiplying to the electrifying soundtrack before the match kicked off.

F1 JEDDAH GRAND PRIX OPENING SHOW

44 Projectors, 1.4 Million pixels, 110 Million Live Viewers, 120 Metres of Projected Track.

I helped with impressing spectators of the Jeddah Grand Prix with the largest single projection canvas I’ve worked on so far. Projecting from the finish line over a staggering 120 metres of Jeddah’s Corniche race track. I worked predominantly on the first historic half showcasing the icography of Jeddah’s rich culture.

EASYJET CHRISTMAS LIGHT SHOW.

The world’s first Christmas Lights show on a plane, would you believe? From Easyjet’s own hangar at Luton Airport, Easyjet brought a little christmas magic with a projection show onto their Airbus A321, complete with surrounding reindeer light sculptures, and a jolly waving Santa in the cockpit.

Created as a live show and for social channels, this 60 second animated piece had to appeal to a large audience, and give a little festive cheer to Easyjet’s fans and the many excited children on-site in the crowd.

R.A.F. BATTLE OF BRITAIN PROJECTION SHOWS.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The R.A.F’s Benelovence Fund wanted to showcase the incredible work done by the women at radar towers during WWII. What better way to do this than to project these heroes onto the most famous of radar towers: RAF Bawdsey in Suffolk and RAF Buchan in Aberdeenshire.

Given sole responsibility for the two sequences, I decided to centralise the whole sequences around the visual language of radar as an attractive transition device and reminder of what brought all these people together. This visual worked especially well for the spherical canvas of RAF Buchan.

BURBERRY LIVING BILLBOARDS.

For christmas 2018, Burberry took their Festive campaign one step further by bringing their models to life with print billboards combined with sleek animations projected on top; known as poster mapping.

Models including Naomi Campbell, Kristen Scott Thomas and Matt Smith were brought to life across London, New York, Seoul and Shanghai.

The challenge with poster mapping is that projecting an image on top of an image means that not much can move. What brings this effect to life is working with light and shadow and animated backgrounds to transform an image to a dynamic festive scene.
